Dr. Dormer combines the concentration-rich cells back with your plasma to create your very own PRP. When she injects PRP into targeted areas, the powerful growth factor cells immediately go to work. Keep in mind, these are the same cells that spring into action when you have an injury.

They energize skin cells and tissues to start regenerating — including skin-tightening elastin and collagen. Over the following weeks, as skin tissues build and strengthen, your skin turns visibly tighter, firmer, and younger looking. Since results are gradual, though, expect natural results.

What issues can be treated with PRP?

Dr. Dormer uses PRP therapy to reduce the appearance of your wrinkles, fine lines, and scars, and to replace lost collagen. She also provides PRP injections to stimulate hair growth. Some of the other conditions that PRP therapy treats include:

  • Volume loss
  • Sagging skin
  • Acne scarring
  • Sun damage
  • Sexual dysfunction in men and women
  • Painful sex
  • Stress urinary incontinence

Dr. Dormer lets you know how many treatments you may need to improve your specific issue.

Who is a good candidate for PRP therapy?

If you’re interested in PRP therapy, schedule an appointment with Dr. Dormer. She provides detailed consultations to determine if PRP is right for you. Dr. Dormer looks for different qualifications depending on the imperfection you want to correct.

For example, if you want to improve the appearance of your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and loose skin, you should be in good health overall. In most cases, patients are over the age of 30 and are going through age-related collagen loss.

However, if you want to stimulate new hair growth, you should still have some hair growing on your scalp. The earlier you begin treatment for hair loss, the better your chances of achieving your goals.

When will I see results after PRP?

While PRP immediately stimulates new cell growth, you won’t experience instant results; it takes time for the effects of new collagen and cell growth to appear. Most patients start noticing an improvement within about a week or two of their PRP treatment. With each passing day, your skin improves further. You should see optimal results within 2-3 months.

The effects of PRP treatments last about 18 months — more in some cases. Because your body continues to age and tissue breaks down naturally, you can repeat PRP treatments when you start noticing the results wearing off.
