Acne scars

There are 2 types of acne scars.

One is a post-inflammatory red or brown spot that is left behind after a breakout.

This type of scar is treated by lasers, light devices, peels and topical medications.

The second type of acne scar is an indentation or acne pit generally presenting as deep ice pick or saucer type in shape.

Treatment options include platelet rich plasma, laser, ultrasound and fillers.

Stretch marks

A stretch mark is usually caused by a loss of tissue often due to pregnancy, rapid weight loss/gain or hormones.

Scarring in general results from trauma to the skin, either intentionally to remove a skin cancer, for surgery or unintentionally from an accident etc.

Treatments of this area do not include topical over the counter creams as any cream that make these claims is guilty of false marketing.

Platelet Rich Plasma injections and microneedling with growth factors have delivered surprisingly good results.
