Xeomin’s distinguishing feature is what has been taken out of it. The formulation is purified so that the accessory proteins present in the alternatives are removed. For most patients that makes no practical difference, and it is worth saying so plainly.

Where it is specifically requested is among patients who have been treated repeatedly over many years and want a protein-free option. That is a legitimate preference and it is accommodated without overstating the clinical case for it.

What is xeomin, in plain terms?

Xeomin is a botulinum toxin type A injectable formulated without the accessory proteins the alternatives contain. It treats the same expression lines, with the same temporary effect.

Detailed background on the treatment itself is on the main xeomin page.

Who asks about xeomin in Wake Forest?

This is the smallest of the three neuromodulator lists in Wake Forest and the most experienced. Patients asking for Xeomin have usually had years of treatment and know exactly what they are asking for.

It is also chosen occasionally by patients starting treatment who simply prefer the purified formulation on principle. Either way, dose is planned from assessment and does not carry across from another brand’s unit count.

What else is available at this location?

Many patients at this location also ask about the botox page for Wake Forest and Juvederm for Wake Forest patients. Whether both are appropriate together is settled at assessment.

How is treatment priced?

There is no fixed price list on this page, and that is deliberate. Two people asking for the same treatment can need very different amounts of product across a different number of sessions. Costs are worked out at your assessment and confirmed before you commit to anything.

Who leads treatment here?

Every plan at this practice is set by Anita Dormer, MD. Physician-led assessment is what allows a treatment to be declined when it would not achieve what the patient is asking for.

Questions patients ask

What makes Xeomin different?

It is purified, so the accessory proteins found in other botulinum toxin type A preparations are removed. Clinically it is used in the same way and the effect is equally temporary.

Will Xeomin work if other neuromodulators have stopped working for me?

That is a conversation to have at assessment rather than an assumption. Apparent loss of effect has several possible explanations, and they need working through before changing product.

How many Xeomin units will I need?

Dose is decided from your assessment. Unit counts do not transfer between brands, so a number from a previous different-brand treatment is not a useful guide.

How soon does it start working?

Typically three to seven days, with the settled result at around two weeks, which is when a review is offered.
