Rejuvenate your skin and reclaim your youth through minimally invasive injectable treatments

Skin Tags

A skin tag is a small flap of tissue that hangs off the skin by a connecting stalk and is usually found on the neck, chest, back, armpits, under the breasts, or in the groin area. Skin tags often occur in female and overweight persons but can occur naturally as many people age. A single laser treatment will usually remove skin tags.

Wrinkles

Lines, wrinkles, and folds are all tell-tale signs of aging. Though they are often unavoidable, knowing how and why they develop can help an individual slow their development and their progression. There is truth in the old saying that at 20 we have the face we were born with but at 50 we have the face we have earned. LINK to do French women get more wrinkles.

What are the underlying causes of Wrinkles

Age: There is no denying that skin is eventually going to begin to wrinkle. The aging process causes skin to produce less oil and lose collagen, bone and elastin. Dryer thinner skin wrinkles more easily, and also appears sallow. Skin slowly succumbs to the effects of gravity and the loss of the foundational structures such as collagen and the fat and bone underneath the skin thereby creating skin folds and sag.

Repeated facial expressions: When your mother told you that if you kept making that face, your face would “freeze like that”, she was partially right. Such repetitive actions as frowning or smiling can cause lines to develop where the muscles contract.  Over time, collagen breakdown and muscle enlargement in such areas can leave lines on your face when your face is at rest without an expression.

Gender: Men generally have thicker overall skin than women. Since women have fewer perspiration and sebum (oil) glands around the mouth, they are more likely to get wrinkles in this area than men. Women also have fewer blood vessels than men which means the skin gets fewer nutrients over time.

Nutrition: Insufficient vitamins and minerals in the diet impact the skin. The skin literally needs to be nourished from the inside out. Low Sugar diet has also been shown to retard inflammation that leads to aging.

Smoking: Studies have shown that cigarette smoking makes the skin age faster due in part to damage and constriction of the blood vessels that supply blood and nutrients to the skin. LINK to twins with smoker non smoker

UV Exposure: Ultraviolet light increases the skin’s aging process. The relationship between skin “age” and UV light exposure is direct which means the more time you spend in the sun (or in a sunbed) the older your skin will appear. UV rays can destroy collagen and elastin fibers in the skin, making it less flexible and prone to wrinkling.  LINK to Twins with sun without

Genetics:  Genes play a large part in determining facial shape, skin type, elasticity and strength. Large family cheekbones and other such inherited structures influences how we age and if we are lucky, we do inherit such age -defying genes.

Substance Abuse: Though age, genetics, and to some degree facial expressions, cannot be changed, many wrinkles are caused by lifestyle choices such diets high in sugars, alcohol, and other drugs. See LINK to Meth addict pre post

How can I prevent Wrinkles?

Optimal treatment for wrinkles is to take protective precautions before they even start to appear. Wrinkles are a sign that your skin has been damaged, and although many consider wrinkle prevention a vain pursuit, it is actually important for overall skin health.

Manageable causes of Wrinkles

The Sun

The number one cause of wrinkles is exposure to the sun. The UV rays from the sun will break down the elastic layers of the skin, making your skin sag and wrinkle. In addition, you will be more likely to get bruises, age spots and other marks on your skin if you are constantly in the sun. When you do go outside especially on cloudy days, apply full-coverage sunscreen and wear sun protective clothing. We recommend Dr Anita’s “Remember Me no Tears” sunscreen that also prevents and treats the signs of aging and pigmentation – click here for more information.

Smoking

Smoking causes your body to release enzymes that break down elastin and collagen and is a very preventable cause of wrinkles. If you smoke, you are going to look older than your non-smoking twin. Dr Anita can help you evaluate your lifestyle and assist you with lifestyle choices.

Facial Expressions

Facial expressions like smiling, raising your eyebrows, or squinting your eyes will eventually cause dynamic wrinkles. Such simple things as wearing sunglasses and reading glasses as well as the modern miracle of Neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport can help people look younger and fresher than any time in history. Sleep

Your body to rest and repair. If you are not getting enough sleep, your body starts releasing a  stress hormone called cortisol that will start to break down your collagen   and reducing natural Human growth hormone (HGH) that stimulates skin cell growth.    Without adequate sleep, your skin will not stay elastic and will start to wrinkle

 Diet

Consuming foods low in carbohydrates and high in anti-oxidants such as Vitamin C have been shown to combat free radicals that break down collagen and elastin.

How can I reduce the appearance of Wrinkles?

Your skin can make you look significantly younger or significantly older than your real age depending on how you take care of it. If your skin has become damaged and wrinkles are beginning to appear, there are other basic steps along with exfoliation, sun protection, diet and healthy lifestyle choices can help reduce their appearance. Serious restoration of skin’s natural moisture levels with Dr. Anita’s anti-aging serum moisturizer Counter Intelligence, SOS Moisture Mask when used along with Dr. Anita’s retinoic acid based PM cream and treatment systems continue the necessary microinjury that creates the collagen necessary to reduce the appearance and formation of wrinkles

Your medical specialist has many options today for reducing the appearance of wrinkles. These include the above-mentioned anti-aging and prescription retinoic acid based products such as those in the Dr. Anita line of skincare.  Neuromodulators such as Botox, Xeomin and Dysport and collagen inducing injectable fillers like Radiesse all are game changing scientific innovations that keep us looking our best.
